Many people still joke about the aspects of vision and eye health. While like the physical or dental examination performed on a regular basis, visits to the eye care professional or ophthalmologist needs to be done to ensure our healthy eyes and normal vision. Especially for the diabetics, they need to examining their eyes more frequently.
Regular eye examination to give doctors the opportunity to identify and evaluate changes that may affect our eye health. That regular and proactive eye examinations can detect early symptoms of disorders as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and other health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.
As is known, along with the growing age then vision disorders will be more risky and dangerous. Glaucoma suffered by many people over the age of 40 years and is one of the most causes of blindness in the United States.

Diabetics also tend to get cataracts at a young age and progress more quickly.
To help with mild cataracts, Hansen said, one can use the sun glasses curtain more and use the glare-control lenses in their glasses. When cataracts affect more and more views, doctors usually change the original lens of the eye with a special lens transplant.
On people with diabetes, retinopathy getting worse after lifting the eye lens and then glaucoma can begin to develop. Diabetic retinophaty is a general expression for the interference and disorders of the retina caused by diabetes mellitus.
People with diabetes are about 40 percent have a higher risk of suffering glaucoma than people without diabetes. The longer someone has had diabetes, the more common glaucoma is. Now glaucoma treatment can be done in different ways. "Some may use drugs to reduce the pressure on the eye, while others require action involving the surgery," Hansen said.
This is very important, especially for people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, in order to protect their eyesight using UVB-Blocking glasses when outdoors and avoid smoking.
To understand the vision interference problems, each person must control their health problems and chronic diseases suffered, including the diabetes treatment plan.
"Do not worry, regular eye examinations will not be painful and very important to know the health condition of our eyes. Especially for the elderly and people with a chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus," Dr. James Hansen said.
