HIV/AIDS Campaign In Indonesia Still Not Effective

The lack of knowledge of community related on infection and prevention of Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), making Indonesia as the fastest country in the spread of HIV / AIDS in Asia.

Yudhi said, people can be expected to understand what AIDS is, so it does not err in responding AIDS, at least for themselves and people around.

Things that must be avoided is the virus, not the person, not a problem if only shake or brush because nearly 90% of people with AIDS / ODHA removed and isolated by their own families and not received at the General Hospital.

ODHA also needed not only drugs to delay death, but also the attention and support from family and nearest relatives. Excision will only make death faster to come because ODHA feel depressed, abandoned, and not received by the community.

Jakarta Stop HIV / AIDS Programs To Prevent HIV / AIDS Spread Among Youth And School-Aged Children

HIV / AIDS among young people increasingly worrisome to many parties. Newest data indicates, the average age of people with HIV / AIDS, between 19-25 years. To prevent the spread of HIV / AIDS, has launched Jakarta Stop AIDS program initiated by the Unilever Foundation Indonesia / Yayasan Unilever Indonesia, work in cooperation with Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa Local Government of Central Jakarta.

Jakarta Stop AIDS is a primary prevention program the spread of HIV / AIDS among school-age youth. Program Manager from Public Health Education Yayasan Unilever Indonesia, dr Leo Indarwahono, told that this program will be done through community empowerment, especially teachers and students from Junior and Senior High Schools.

This activity is also at the same time points the program ambassadors drawn from 38 junior and senior high schools / equal, spread in the area of Gambir and Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. "To maintain continuity, later each ambassador will choose four other students, whether their brother / sister and friends or their own classmates in the school, to continue this HIV / AIDS campaign in their school," Leo said.

Jakarta Stop AIDS is a continuation of a similar program held by Unilever in Surabaya, East Java, which is titled Surabaya Stop AIDS since 2008 and still running to this day.

HIV / AIDS Cases In West Java

According to the data of Indonesia's Health Ministry on 31 December 2008, number of HIV/AIDS cases in West Java occupy the highest position than another cities in Indonesia, with 2888 number of HIV/AIDS cases, while the second position is DKI Jakarta with the number of 2781 cases, then successively East Java in 2591 cases and Papua in 2382 cases.

In west Java, cases of AIDS were dominated by a users of syringe drug addict, while the rest derived from the sexual behaviour among heterosexual, homosexual or the babies that got infected from their mothers.

Data issued by the Ministry of Health shows until September the number of people with AIDS as much as 2300 people, means that 500 cases of AIDS found during the period October to December 2008.
